New Work! – “All Have Wings”

I am excited to announce that I will be showing a NEW series of oil paintings in September titled “All Have Wings”.

MoosuTurtle

While visiting a local thrift store earlier this year I came across a pair of mounted moose antlers. I was moved by how much they resembled wings, and they inspired the first painting that would become a series of uniquely winged children portraits. My intent in creating these pieces was to portray the emotional stance of each child, while exploring the added dimension of wings. The characters may appear to exude a vulnerability or perhaps outright defiance, but in each is a resilience born from the magic of childhood honesty and curiosity for lifting them above the trappings of adulthood.

Hope to see you at the show!

Opening reception: First Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013; 6-9pm
Where: Gallery 135, 135 NW Park Ave, Portland
(Please note: the artwork will be up all month. If you arrive during business hours during the month of September and the door is locked you will need to buzz the receptionist.)
