This is part of my series "Mythed Flight". I’ve reimagined winged mythological women using my own interpretations & symbols, and endowed them with unconventional wings.
The Swan Maiden is a mythical creature who shapeshifts from human form to swan form. The key to the transformation is her swan feathered garment. In folktales, a male character spies the maiden, (usually bathing), steals the feather garment, which prevents her from flying away and forces her to become his wife.
